Welcome to The CLUTTER HUB

The Clutter Hub was created to challenge the way we think about clutter, hoarding and chronic disorganisation.

With over seven years of hands-on experience working as a professional organiser and declutterer, our founder has seen first-hand that clearing a space is not the same as creating lasting change. Too often, traditional approaches—particularly within housing and local authority settings—focus on quick fixes, enforcement or forced clear-outs, without addressing the underlying behaviours driving the issue.

The result? The cycle repeats.

The Clutter Hub exists to break that cycle.

We take a different approach—one that looks beyond the physical environment and focuses on the behaviours, habits and emotional factors that lead to clutter accumulation. Our work is rooted in compassion, practicality and real-world experience, with a strong focus on helping people make sustainable changes that actually last.

At the heart of everything we do is a clear mission: to support people in maintaining safe, manageable homes and to reduce the risk of crisis interventions such as eviction.

By working both at an individual level and alongside organisations, The Clutter Hub aims to create a more effective, human-centred approach to managing clutter and hoarding—one that prioritises understanding over judgment and long-term outcomes over short-term results.

What is Hoarding Disorder?

Hoarding disorder is a recognised mental health condition that makes it very difficult to get rid of things, even when they aren’t necessary, useful or safe. Hoarding can also be related to excessive shopping, collecting free items compulsively or searching obsessively for specific items.

A person with Hoarding Disorder has a strong aversion to throwing away useless items and a hard time organising their possessions. This often leads to one or more rooms within the home becoming so cluttered, they can no longer be used for their intended purposes. It can also cause family conflicts, relationship challenges and isolation.

Serious hoarding cases can present health, safety, fire and environmental health risks and this can sometimes lead to enforced action from the authorities or eviction in the worst cases.

Our trauma-informed 1-2-1 intervention programs can:

- help individuals understand their tendencies and hoarding type

- uncover the story behind the clutter and understand what it is telling you

- empower you to approach your situation with curiosity instead of judgement

- give you the tools you need to slowly regain control of both space and peace of mind.

SERVICES

FOR INDIVIDUALS & THEIR LOVED ONES

12-week Personalised Intervention Programs - In Person (moderate-severe tendencies) - £2995

This is not a decluttering service.
It is a psychologically informed hoarding intervention model, designed for higher-risk situations where in-home support is required.

We work with the person first—the environment second—using a structured, paced and consent-led approach that prioritises safety, emotional regulation and long-term change.

If things have reached crisis point, you are not alone—and you are not beyond help. Hoarding is complex, emotionally driven and often deeply overwhelming to face without the right support.

You may be living with significant clutter that impacts daily functioning, avoiding key areas of the home, experiencing conflict with family, or under pressure from housing providers or services.

This is where we step in.

We provide intensive in-person support, typically 3–4 hours per week within the home, for moderate to severe hoarding presentations. Sessions are practical and hands-on, supported by structured planning, agreed goals and between-session “homework” to maintain momentum.

Support continues between visits where needed, ensuring you are not left to manage the process alone.

Most services focus on clearing space. We focus on changing patterns of behaviour, safely and sustainably. We understand shame, resistance, emotional attachment and overwhelm—and we work with these dynamics, not against them.

After a structured 12-week intervention, clients are supported to transition to either family members or social care services to maintain progress and reduce relapse risk.

This service is suitable for individuals who are unable to progress safely or consistently on their own, or who nay be facing eviction as a result of clutter and require guided, in-home intervention with professional oversight.

4-week Personalised Intevervention Programs - Remote/Online (mild-moderate/Insight or family-led) -

This is not a decluttering service.
It is a structured hoarding support programme designed for individuals with insight, or relatives supporting someone through change.

This approach is suitable for milder presentations, early-stage hoarding, or situations where the individual is not yet ready for intensive in-person intervention.

We work by combining practical structure with behavioural understanding, helping to create sustainable change without overwhelming the person involved.

If you are supporting a loved one, you may feel stuck between wanting to help and not knowing how to approach the situation without conflict or resistance.

This service provides clarity and direction.

It includes a personalised written decluttering and support plan, tailored to the individual and their circumstances, along with practical communication tools to help families navigate difficult conversations, reduce escalation and encourage cooperation.

Alongside this, there is a weekly one-hour video support session to review progress, adjust strategies and provide ongoing guidance.

The focus is on building structure, improving decision-making around items and supporting gradual, sustainable change at a manageable pace.

We understand that forcing change rarely works. Instead, we focus on reducing resistance, improving communication and supporting consistent progress over time.

This service is suitable for individuals who have some insight into their situation, or families who need professional guidance to support a loved one safely and effectively at home.

FOR HOUSING & SOCIAL CARE SECTORS

Consultancy & Complex Case Support

Hoarding cases often present with overlapping risks, including fire hazards, safeguarding concerns, tenancy breaches and multi-agency involvement. These situations can be challenging to manage within standard service frameworks.

This is where we step in.

We provide specialist consultancy and direct case support for complex hoarding cases, working alongside professionals to assess risk, stabilise situations and guide appropriate intervention strategies.

Support may include case reviews, joint visits, risk assessments and clear, defensible action plans aligned with legislation and best practice.

Most services focus on environmental outcomes. We focus on sustainable behaviour change, risk reduction and realistic engagement with the individual.

Our approach supports professionals to take proportionate, evidence-based action while reducing escalation, repeat interventions and enforcement-led outcomes.

This service is suitable for local authorities managing high-risk hoarding cases requiring specialist input, structured intervention and defensible decision-making.

Policy & Process Development

Hoarding cases often fall between services, leading to inconsistent responses, unclear thresholds and increased risk across housing, safeguarding and environmental health teams.

We work with organisations to create structured, realistic processes that support early identification, appropriate intervention and consistent case management.

We develop and refine policies, pathways and internal guidance that reflect the complexity of hoarding behaviour while remaining practical for frontline teams to apply.

This includes risk frameworks, escalation pathways, multi-agency coordination and clear guidance on consent, capacity and enforcement.

Most existing policies focus on compliance. We focus on usability, defensibility and real-world application.

The result is a more consistent, confident workforce, reduced case escalation and improved outcomes for both residents and services.

This service is suitable for local authorities seeking to strengthen their internal approach to hoarding, improve cross-team coordination and reduce risk through clear, structured processes.

Specialist Staff Training

Hoarding presents unique challenges that are often not covered in standard training, leading to frustration, ineffective interventions and increased risk for both staff and residents.

We focus on building practical understanding of hoarding behaviour, risk identification, communication strategies and appropriate intervention approaches.

Training is tailored to specific roles and services, including housing, social care, environmental health and frontline support staff.

Sessions combine theory with real-world application, giving staff clear tools to manage resistance, reduce conflict and engage individuals more effectively.

Most training focuses on awareness. We focus on application, decision-making and risk management in real scenarios.

The outcome is increased staff confidence, more consistent responses and improved case handling across services.

This is not generic awareness training.
It is specialist, psychologically informed training designed to equip professionals with the skills to manage hoarding cases safely, confidently and effectively.

This service is suitable for local authorities seeking to upskill teams, improve frontline response and reduce the long-term impact of unmanaged hoarding cases.
